As the UK and Europe’s number one provider of laser eye surgery, our commitment to patient care is backed up by our membership of a number of industry governing bodies.

The Optical Express Group’s membership of a wide range of governing bodies ensures excellence in adherence to the highest standards of clinical treatments and care.  

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Our laser eye clinics in England are inspected by the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care responsible for enforcing government regulatory standards; see the Commission’s website for their judgments about our compliance with national standards.

General Optical Council (GOC)

Optical Express is fully registered with this regulatory body for the optical professions in the UK and adheres to their strict standards of treatment and care.

The Eye Laser Association (ELA)

Optical Express, as a founding member was responsible for ensuring the ELA maintained “best practice” within the refractive industry. Not currently active, its purpose was to ensure that patients of all ELA members were treated fairly. The ELA may again play a role in the future of the industry.

Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCO)

Optical Express Surgeons that are members of this body follow strict guidelines and standards for the practice of ophthalmology.

General Medical Council (GMC)

All Optical Express Surgeons are fully registered and approved by this body.

International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB)

Many of the world’s opinion leaders and most experienced ophthalmologists have joined the Optical Express IMAB, as members and special advisors. All Optical Express Surgeons are assessed annually by this board to continually improve their knowledge of recent developments in the field and keep them up to date with industry regulations.

The Medical Registration Council (Comhaile na nDochtuiri Leighis)

All Optical Express surgeons working in Ireland are members of this medical council that protects the interests of the public assuring the quality of and guidance on professional standards of ethical conduct.

Irish College of Ophthalmology (ICO)

Every surgeon employed by Optical Express to work in Ireland is a member of this organisation which is dedicated to the preservation of eye health and sight and to the provision of total eye care, optical, medical, and surgical.

The Optician Board of Ireland (Board na Radharcmhastoiri)

Every Optical Express optometrist working in Ireland is a member of this statutory authority that regulates registration and practice of optometrists and dispensing opticians in Ireland. No optometrist may practice in Ireland until they are registered by the Board.

Association of Optometrists Ireland (AOI)

Optical Express Optometrists within Ireland adhere to the guidelines issued by this professional representative body providing a supervisory and ethical environment for optometrists.
